Crystal River Preserve State Park: Eco-Walk Trail

Tucked off US 19 four miles north of Downtown Crystal River is this little gem that's part of the Crystal River Preserve State Park. Watch for the Great Florida Birding Trail sign. A two-mile long level path loops through meadow into pine forest and then into Oak savannah before crossing into a mixed hardwood freshwater marsh. If ever a bird loved a place, this is it. You'll love it too since interpretive signs, conveniently juxtaposed with benches, explain everything. Stop and watch the bluebirds nesting in the nesting boxes in springtime.
