Fort Cooper Nights of Lights (December)
The magic and mystery of the holiday season will be experienced by visitors who enter Fort Cooper State Park during the annual Nights of Lights, sponsored by the Friends of Fort Cooper. The trails, trees, pavilion and social hall will be decked out in holiday decorations. Santa Claus will welcome children each night in the social hall. Visitors can roast marshmallows and make their own s’mores at a bonfire supervised by volunteers from the Friends of Fort Cooper. Refreshments will be served in the park pavilion and holiday music will be broadcast along the trails. In lieu of an entrance fee, visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or toy for the Citrus United Basket of Inverness or pet food for the Citrus County Animal services.
